Mad Max: Fury Road Runs Out Of Gas. Production Halted Until 2012| Latino Review

 Well, they gave it a good old college try at least. Production has been shut down on the Mad Max sequel Fury Road. Theaustralian.com has the sad news: George Miller's film has been delayed for a second time and will not begin filming until 2012. The delay has left many major film crew members without work amid fears the high Australian dollar could ultimately kill the film as its budget grows. Key crew were told this week not to expect to return for pre-production until August or November next year. Production is now anticipated to begin in the Broken Hill region in February 2012. The film had already been delayed. In July, Kennedy Miller Productions said unseasonal rains had made the Broken Hill area too fertile and production was put back to later this year. The latest postponement comes at a tense time for the film industry as Australia is dragged into a New Zealand labour dispute concerning Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. Jackson accused Australia of being a jealous "bully boy" after the actor's union, the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance, recommended a boycott of the production. Executives told The Weekend Australian the NZ imbroglio reflected poorly on the film industry at a time when the key Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast film studios were empty and the rising dollar scuppered hopes of other international productions. Maybe move production out of Australia? I don't know, just a thought. Not sure if the film's locale is contractually locked for Australia only but if they wanna get this thing made they had better come up with Plan B, because by the time 2012 rolls around nobody will care anymore. |
最近のオーストラリアドル高が、こんな所にも影響が、、、
マッドマックスの続編『Fury Road』の撮影開始が今年の８月→来年１月→2012年 と変更されたとのニュースが出ましたね。
社内でもちらほらと、話は聞いていたのですが、、、、
とりあえずは、目の前の『Happy Feet2』に専念するわけですが、どうなるのでしょうか？
１本の映画制作には膨大なお金がかかります。低予算で制作する映画も沢山ありますがヒット作の続編ともなると、自然と予算が大きく設定されます。
そのお金は配給会社やファンド等の投資グループからの出資になり、前回参加した『ガフールの伝説』では、プロダクションで100,000,000USDと言われています。

仮に現在のレートでAUDに交換すると
100,000,000 ->(1.0156)=101,560,000
かなり乱暴ですが数年前までの概算では、
100,000,000->(1.3000)=130.000.000
差額は28,440,000
日本円で23億位です。大きいですよね。

こう考えると舵を大幅に切り替えないと、もしくはリセットしないといけない気もします。
しかし、1年後の豪ドルは対米ドルで、どうなってるのでしょうかね？
当然、その辺も加味して仕切り直すのでしょうが。
個人的には『Happy Feet2』が、終わればそのまま『Mad Mux』に、参加したかったのですがね。

そして、本文にも出てきている『ロードオブザリング』の監督のピータージャクソンのスピンオフ映画の『ホビット』。
彼もまた制作を進められないようですね。下段参照。
この「GREEN LIGHT」。文字通り「青信号」。つまり「ゴーサイン」ですね。
出資者・配給会社から、この「GREEN LIGHT」（ゴーサイン）が出ないと、制作は始められないのです。
見切り発車しても、金銭的人的サポートも無ければ、出来上がっても映画をかける劇場が無い状態になります。
このグリーンライトが曲者で、、、、
バンクーバーに居た時の会社でも、次の制作を始めるのでプロダクションに残るように言われていて、ごくごく少数で下準備(プリプロダクション)をしていたのですが、このグリーンライトがなかなか点灯せず、毎週
「ラスト１マイル」
「ラスト１フィート」
「ラスト１インチ」
とか言われている約半年の間に、一人去り、、、二人去り、、、そして、現場は（逃げ遅れた？いや筋を通した）私一人になり、ある日プロデューサに呼ばれ、
「現状ではライトは点かない。他の会社を探してくれ！」
と言われました。
なのでこのグリーンライトは「トラウマ」ですね。
でもおかげで、常雨のバンクーバーから、この温暖なシドニーに上陸したわけですから、
人間万事塞翁が馬 禍福はあざなえる縄のごとし
ですね。
Peter Jackson Is Still Waiting Word on ‘The Hobbit’

 Red light. Green light. Red light. “The Hobbit” is becoming another word for streetlight.In an interview with Empire Magazine, Jackson indicated a lot of reports online are just rumors circulating about “The Hobbit.” “We are nowhere different to any other reports or conversations,” said Jackson. “We haven’t got a green light yet. We’re still waiting. Things still seem to be inching closer to some sort of happy place. I keep hearing that so many times now I’ve stopped tuning into it.” During this week, there were reports Warner Bros. were close to have Jackson in the director’s chair for the movie. Jackson responded, “We’ve seen these reports before, reports saying there was going to be a green light in a couple of days – well, a week’s gone by and there isn’t one.” The good news is that Jackson is still involved with the movie—at least as writer and producer. Just like the fans, he is frustrated with the ongoing battle with this film. “I’ve learnt never to get that excited until something is greenlit because there is a moment when you commit emotionally to a project and you give everything, your heart and soul,” he said. “At that point, once you’ve done that and it doesn’t happen, it’s the most horrible thing in the world outside of the stuff do with your family. It’s the worst experience ever, to have a film fall over that you’ve committed 100% to. I always just protect myself and don’t fully commit until I know for sure that it’s happening. Then it gets my 100% commitment.” So it’s a red light again. |
